1989
Taylor Swift’s new album was a literal smash hit. 1989 debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200, selling 1,287,000 copies. Thus, it became the highest sales week since 2002, made Taylor the first artist to have 3 albums sell one million or more copies in one week and was the best selling album in 2014. Taylor, for lack of better words, killed it with this album. Although she is not my personal favorite artist, I felt it would be wrong not to mention her in my journals. She is the epitome of a successful woman in my generation, and is honestly the best role model I can think of for young girls. Taylor has stayed almost completely out of trouble since the start of her career, and has done a significant amount of philanthropic work and random acts of kindness, in addition to producing record-breaking albums. She is an impressive person, and as I do more and more research about her, my respect keeps on growing. Even though her dancing is atrocious and my Grandma could show her up any day, her music is catchy and most of them have a good story behind them. If having a lot of boys on her list of exes is her only flaw, I would say that is a pretty fantastic thing.
