If we strip the meaning of sports doping down to it’s bare bones, steroid use has been going on for thousands of years. However, issues with their use in sports have only just been brought up within the last century. And so, the answer the big question, “is using steroids unethical?” is clear. They are ethical if they enable you to be the best and allow you to help your team win. Whether that is a baseball team, or your own team in weightlifting, it does not matter. “Juicing up” is not something many people think of as being a moral, however, it is indeed an ethical way to get ahead, so long as you entertain your fans with a victory.
