The Ferguson Debacle
This issue has been the source of national headlines since the beating of Rodney King in 1992 and the riots that consumed Los Angeles after the verdict was in favor of the white policemen who were in the wrong. In the past six months since the shooting, our country has been bringing up the question of racial inequality once again. The public is outraged at how our court system has handled the case of Michael Brown’s shooting. They say that the police system is corrupt, and they are not wrong. There are thousands of reports each year of white policemen and women mistreating citizens of color for no reason other than they are in-fact of color. A few incidences have even been caught on camera recently, which has brought even the biggest doubters to question the police system. The officer who was responsible for Brown’s was put on paid leave and not indicted, which fueled riots across the country. Neither of which is right. The officer should have been punished, and riots should not occur. Destroying the place in which you live is no solution to being angry with a system not even from your area. Instead, these people should engage in peaceful protests to prove their point. This has been happening more and more, but the riots need to stop.
